Meet Tom Bagley – The City & Capital Group’s Director of Operations
The City & Capital Group may be specialists in all-things financial services, but our acquisitions and recruitment teams would be lost without our director of operations, Tom Bagley.
As part of our newest blog series we have decided to shine the spotlight on each member of The City & Capital Group family, to find out a little more about them… Here, Tom reveals he spends his weekends celebrating/mourning the football results!
Summarise your role in one paragraph:
My role is a varied one and pretty much covers everything non-sales. From identifying the right business software to help drive us forward, to fixing the printer – which probably takes up most of my time! Day-to-day I look for ways to improve efficiencies and productivity, as well managing and organising all data within the firm.
What’s the best part of your job?
Being creative with new ideas and processes. It encourages an entrepreneurial environment that is constantly changing and adapting. In short, we don’t stand still and we’re always looking for things to improve – and it’s my job to identify these.
What makes The City & Capital Group stand out from its competitors?
Put simply, we keep our word! We set our self apart through transparency and honesty – think less scatter gun approach, and more laser-guided. We’re thorough and leave no stone unturned.
What three words do you think best describes City & Capital?
Professional, reliable, diligent.
And what three words do you think your colleagues would use to describe you?
Level-headed, determined, organised.
If one of your colleagues could win an award (industry or office-related) who would it be and why?
Stu would win an award for best director. I have been fortunate to work with him for almost a decade – within two other businesses – and when he explained his ambition to set up The City & Capital Group I didn’t hesitate in joining him from day one.
He is not only the most hard-working person I know, but he also understands how to motivate staff and get the best out of a team. From a sales manager responsible for up to 100 people at any given time – to running his own business, his success motivates me – and his trust in me allows me to feel like I am growing in my role every day.
The phone rings and it’s your dream enquiry – who would the client be?
Anyone that makes the sales team happy.
What is the biggest challenge facing the industry over the next 12 months?
You guessed it, Brexit!
How do you wind-down during the weekend?
I don’t – I tend to get more wound up watching Leeds United!
Share an interesting fact about you that not many people know:
I have three middle names – William, Arthur and Samuel!
