Helping a challenger bank grow its underwriting team
The challenge
A long-term client had enjoyed marked success in its bridging and development department, and to manage the increasing workload – and achieve wider lending goals – the firm urgently required a team of experienced underwriters with relevant experience.
The solution
Having obtained a detailed brief about the role, required candidate experience, and a thorough understanding of the wider business ambitions, our recruitment specialists set to work looking for the ideal candidate – as if they were an extension of the in-house team.
Using a range of recruitment tools, we placed job advertisements on relevant boards, and carried out a direct-to-candidate search via LinkedIn.
Using our two-stage internal interview process we were able to shortlist a number of candidates who were each closely aligned to the requirements of the client, and filter out the unsuitable CVs.
The outcome
With a selection of pre-qualified leads, the company was able to build their underwriting function to the size required – without having to invest the additional time in sourcing candidates.
By ensuring the firm was employing individuals with direct experience across the relevant products and market, they also saved money in terms of additional training and development – something which is vital in the fast-paced world of property finance.
Our success was such that City & Capital continues to support the company as they grow their loan book. Recently, we have delivered excellent business development managers and marketing staff, bolstering our reputation as part of their wider operations team.
