A senior candidate looking for a c-level position
The challenge
City & Capital Headhunters was approached by an experienced senior candidate who was looking to move companies and into a C-level position.
Holding a key role with a prominent fund manager in the city, the individual had concerns with regards to the firm’s direction. However, having explored the open job market and engaged with a number of recruiters and headhunters, they had become disheartened by the available options.
Due to the candidates’ senior position, keeping their identity confidential, and providing them with complete ownership of each step, were of paramount importance.
The solution
An introductory call and follow-up interview offered the perfect opportunity for City & Capital to understand the candidate’s employment experience, current situation and career ambitions.
With a clear picture of their aspirations, our team worked with the candidate to understand what the new role would need to look like on a short and long-term basis, as well as establish a ‘wish list’ of companies they respected in the market, and felt they could add real and immediate value to.
From there, the team created a high-level, confidential profile which was shared with the CEOs of the companies on their wish list. Where there was interest in pursuing a conversation, we spoke to each firm in turn to delve into their business in detail, the role they had in mind and the key elements of that position.
This was then fed back to the candidate, to explore interest on their part, before sharing more personal information with the potential employer – such as the CV, identity and current employer – and arranging an interview.
By understanding the employee’s ‘must-haves’ in the early stages, it ensured our headhunters were able to ask the right questions of the firms during the scoping of opportunities stage.
The result
City & Capital organised meetings with five separate firms, resulting in three offers of employment and ultimately, a perfectly suited new role for the client.
While none of the firms were originally advertising a position, three were willing to create a role for the candidate, and two were keen to bring forward an opening they were planning for the following financial year.
Subsequent to this, the candidate regularly calls upon City & Capital to build their own team, while the wider business utilises our headhunter and recruitment services.
