A challenger bank looking to launch a new division
The challenge
A growing challenger bank was looking to create a new lending division within fresh market territory. Having raised funds from investors, the firm was looking to recruit an MD with proven experience of bringing a product to market, as well as the capabilities required to help stock lines to flourish, grow contemporary distribution channels, establish risk appetite and build a team.
The success of the new division – as well as the time needed to bring the product to market – hinged on this key appointment. City & Capital Headhunters was tasked with identifying and engaging the right calibre of individual.
The solution
City & Capital Headhunters began by obtaining a detailed brief about the role and required candidate experience – gaining a thorough understanding of the business in the process. It was clear this type of recruit would not be openly advertising their willingness to consider a new role, and that a full headhunt process would be required.
City & Capital Group operates solely within financial services, and therefore has relevant and up-to-date knowledge of the market – and its respective talent. On behalf of the bank, the team approached a range of individuals with current – or previous – work experience within this space.
Having collated a number of interested, high-calibre candidates, each applicant entered into a detailed consultation period which included several interviews and presentations, as well as psychometric profiling and other measures.
The client then received a pre-qualified shortlist of suitable candidates, and began their own in-house interview process before handing back to City & Capital to manage the offer, negotiation and contractual paperwork.
The result
The bank is a now leading player in its sector, and competing at the very top tier. With lots of media interest and profile-raising activities around recent developments, investors’ money is being deployed efficiently.
